Election Report – November 4, 2025 elections

– At least 56 Greens from the across the United States ran in November 4th elections — five for partisan state and federal office (NJ – 4, TX – 1) and 51 for local non-state, non-Federal office.

– In 51 local races on November 4th, 20 Greens were elected (39.2%), including nine of 11 Green incumbents (81.8%.)

Among the 20 Greens elected on November 4th were for mayor (1), city council (3), school board (2), municipal judge (1), constable (1), taxing district board (1), board of assessment appeals (2), zoning board of appeals alternate (2), judge of elections (4) and inspector of elections (3). Fifteen of the victories came in local partisan races in CT, NY and PA, where unlike much of the country, most local offices are partisan.

Overall in November 2025, 22 Greens ran in Connecticut, 12 in Pennsylvania, five in New Jersey, three in Maine, two each in Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Texas and Washington, and one each in Michigan, New Mexico and Virginia

Earlier in 2025, 52 Greens ran in similar non-state, non-Federal races, with 37 elected (71.2%).

Overall in calendar 2025, Greens ran in 110 races; with 103 in races for non-Federal office, non-state office.  In those 103 races Greens were elected 57 times (55.3%) with 27 out of 31 incumbents re-elected (87.1%.)

This follows a pattern of local election success where Greens won 58 out of 100 (58%) local races in 2024 and 53 out of 92 (57.6%) in 2023; with 30/35 (85.7%) of Green incumbents re-elected in 2024 and 22/25 (88%) in 2023.

The Greens elected in 2025 came in 13 states (AK, CA, CT, HI, IL, IN, MA, ME, MS, NM, NY, OR, and PA). Among them were for Mayor (2 elected/5 races), City Council (13/32), School Board (10/14), College Board (1/1),  Library Board (3/3), Water Board (2/2), Road Commissioner (2/2), Budget Committee (3/3), Fire District (1/1) and Park and Rec Board (1/3)

– As of November 2025 elections at least 159 Greens hold elected office in 22 states, including four mayors, 44 city/town/tribal council members, 32 school board members, two community college board members, one county supervisor and one city controller.

Since 1985 Greens have won at least 1664 races, including five for state legislatures; and Greens have held 12 city council town council and school board majorities. Among Green victories, five have been in partisan races for state legislature in in AR, CA and ME, and 210 for local office in AR, CO, CT, HI, MI, NY, RI, and PA.
